Ganesh Chaturthi 2020: Khairatabad Ganesh Idol Will Be Only 9-Feet Tall This Year

  The   Khairatabad   Ganesh Festival Committee on Wednesday released a model for setting up the nine-foot tall Khairatabad Maha Ganpati in Hyderabad for Ganesh Chaturthi this year. The festival will start on August 22 this year. Ganesh Utsav Samithi has decided to celebrate the festival low-key this year in the wake of the coronavirus. Speaking on the occasion, committee chairman Singari Sudarshan said that the statue of Ganesh would be erected at a lower height this year in view of COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the Ganesha statue will be made in "Sri Dhanvantari Narayana" avatar this year. Sudarshan said the statue will be made of clay at the height of 9-feet. He added that the statue was specially made by bringing clay from river Ganga in West Bengal and artists from Kolkata will make this statue which will be completed in three weeks. Khairatabad Ganesh | Bada Ganesh to be immersed before 1 pm tomorrow

Hyderabad: By keeping last years' experience in view, the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Samithi organisers and city police have decided to complete the immersion of Khairatabad Ganesh before noon on September 12. According to P Viswa Prasad, DCP, Central Zone, Khairatabad Bada Ganesh will be immersed before 1 pm on Thursday. Since last year the tallest Ganesh was immersed at 1:45 pm, this year they are taking measures to complete the immersion process before 1 pm. For the past many years the devotees are thronging the Tank Bund to watch the immersion of Khairatabad Ganesh, and leaving the Hussain Sagar premises after immersion process. The DCP said the works already began from Monday and the route map was finalized after discussions with the Utsav Samithi organizers.  Metal sheds and advertisement boards will be removed before early morning hours on Thursday and the welders, carpenters will detach the other idols from the main idol. Khairatabad Ganesh | Mohan Bhagwat Invited As Chief Guest For Ganesh Immersion Procession In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been invited as the chief guest for the Ganesh immersion procession from Balapur to Tank Bund on September 12. This is the first time Bhagwat is participating in the procession. He will be addressing devotees between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm at MJ Market circle. Besides the RSS chief, Swami Pragyanand, the founder of Pragya Mission will also address devotees at Shahalibanda, Charminar, MJ Market, Basheerbagh and NTR Gardens. The immersion procession will begin after the auction of the Balapur laddu at 8 am.
